Customly Yours is a creative design house that offers custom formal womenswear and menswear owned and operated by Lorraine Lobert Freeman.
She works with you personally to create original designs or to recreate clothing from tear sheets, saving you hundreds and possibly thousands on designer wear and interiors.
Lorraine Lobert Freeman was born in Guyana, South America and has had a passion for sewing since the young age of eight. Drawn to the craft by her mother who made clothes for her and her five sisters growing up. By the time she was twelve, she was sewing dresses and baking/decorating cakes. After secondary school, she attended Carnegie School of Home Economics. There, she mastered the skills of sewing, arts and crafts, and cake decoration.
When she was 19 years old, Lorraine moved to New York with her family. She attended and graduated from the International Career Institute where she focused on fashion design and pattern-making. She then went on to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After graduating from F.I.T., Lorraine began her career as Assistant Designer/Pattern-Maker in New York Fashion Industry.
Mrs. Freeman has been married to her husband for over 28 years and they have three wonderful children. For the past 40 years, Lorraine has produced custom made bridal gowns, bride’s maid dresses, maternity wear, prom dresses, children's dresses, and garments compatible to wheelchair-bound lifestyles. Lorraine has also produced clothing and home decorative items using fabrics from India, Africa, Thailand, Ethiopia, Turkey and Scotland in both traditional and contemporary American styles.
Where does she go from here? Lorraine has had a yearning to do something extra special with her skills and talent of sewing for so many years. She is about to launch a dress line for wheelchair-bound women and a bedding line for hospital beds. Stay tuned for the next chapter…
